Gogoprint chose "RICOH Pro C9200 Series" for flexibility, fast service, versatile printing with high quality for growing and adapting during this challenging time

Gogoprint launched its business and website in Thailand in 2015. About 1 year later, we launched our Malaysian website and in 2017 the Singaporean one. We’ve grown very fast since, and we’ve served over 100,000 business customers in the region.

Gogoprint was set up because after working for a while in Thailand, we noticed how slow, expensive, and difficult it could be for SMEs to get their products printed and delivered in Southeast Asia. Small businesses in particular faced many hurdles: a manual and complicated ordering process, a lack of transparency in terms of prices and lead times, and wildly divergent quality levels in the market.

It was difficult to know if you were getting a good price, if your products would be delivered on time, and if they would be of satisfying quality. Ordering printing products online was unheard of. We saw an opportunity to make the market more efficient by developing an efficient online ordering process, with increased transparency, convenience, and consistency for the customers.

The market has evolved since then, and we inspired a lot of competitors to also bring their business online, but Gogoprint still prides itself on providing the fastest and most reliable service to its customers.

We have been using RICOH Pro C9200 Series since April 2021. We explored a couple of different presses from different brands, but the Ricoh machine stood out for a couple of reasons:

The direction of the printing business from now on

We strongly believe in the future of commercial printing in our region. Looking at the medium to long term, it is clear that economies in Southeast Asia will continue to grow fast, and along with them the commercial printing market will grow too. Businesses, big or small, will always need business cards, stickers, flyers, booklets, presentation folders, and so on, because these products are an integral part of how they secure sales and grow their revenue.

In addition, we expect the printing market to increasingly move online, following the development of the European and North American markets. Gogoprint is the online market leader, and we plan to keep strengthening our foothold by investing in our website and launching new relevant products / services for our customers.

The adaptation of the business to the COVID-19 situation

Of course, COVID-19 raised a significant challenge for us, because it affected the vast majority of our B2B customer base. However, it is the nature of business to adapt to changing environments and explore new opportunities. So what we noticed is that our customers started ordering different products, reflecting their own efforts to adjust their product offering to the challenges raised by COVID.

While COVID makes our lives more difficult in the short term, we see a couple of long-term opportunities that it raises:

  • First, it is forcing more and more businesses to move online to thrive, further accelerating the ecommerce trend in Southeast Asia that has already been on a strong growth trajectory for years now. In particular, it is solidifying the trend for B2B companies, which have lagged behind B2C brands in the region. This is good news for us as a bigger share of the market will move online and business will become increasingly used to transacting online.
  • Second, COVID has pushed more and more people to take a risk and easily start their own online business thanks to marketplaces such as Lazada and Shopee. These sellers rely on a wide range of printed products.
  • Third, COVID has reinforced the boom in food delivery, which relies extensively on printed packaging products.
